Sr. Engineer, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)

Position Overview

As an on-site role, responsible for the development and implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs and systems to comply with federal, state, and local EHS regulations as well as MicroVention policies, strategies, initiatives, and goals. Working in both manufacturing and R&D environments, focus on employee health and safety programs including emergency preparedness, incident management, ergonomics, machine guarding, chemical management, management of change, industrial hygiene, and biosafety. Assist with environmental programs such as regulated waste, air emissions, and stormwater management. Job duties:
  • Ensure effective and sustainable EHS systems, programs, and processes comply with local, federal, and state EHS regulations and EHS standards.
  • Partner with business functions to ensure associates follow safety and environmental practices with EHS regulations are supported.
  • Recommend EHS goals and objectives and support the organization in the implementation of EHS goals and objectives.
  • Establish, perform, and report EHS metrics to management.
  • Acts as the Primary EHS contact for EHS emergencies; maintain emergency action plan; coordinate Emergency Response Team training and Emergency drills.
  • Conduct EHS reviews for new chemicals; new product development; facility or manufacturing modification; new equipment/machinery; and product transfer to/from other facilities.
  • Help facilitate incident investigation and root cause analysis. Work with Human Resources and Worker’s Compensation to ensure accurate recordkeeping.
  • Manage EHS job functions for duties such as job safety analyses/risk assessments, EHS program reviews, and employee training.
  • Conduct periodic compliance inspections and internal audits.
  • Obtain and maintain required environmental reports permits, licenses, and documentation.
  • Chair and lead the Safety Committee.
  • Evaluate proposed regulations to determine impact to site operations.
  • Comply with applicable Laws and Regulations, adhere to Quality Management System processes and requirements as well as demonstrate Ethics and Integrity in all matters and at all levels throughout the organization.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $112,000 (compensation could be higher/lower based on experience, education and skill sets)

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, or related field of study, or a bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field with relevant experience.
    2. A minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience in Environmental, Health and Safety, including a minimum of three (3) years of manufacturing and/or plant experience.
    3. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
    4. Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
    Desired Qualifications
    1. Ability to work closely with Senior Leadership, Supervisors and Production employees.
    2. Strong knowledge of state and federal EHS regulations, EHS management systems, emergency action plans, incident management, and ergonomics.
    3. Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills.
    4. Ability to discern and appropriately communicate sensitive issues.
    5. Ability to adapt and work in a team environment.
    6. Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and daily responsibilities.
