Architect, IT PLM Solution (Windchill)

Position Overview

A lead technical role responsible for the overall architecture of MicroVention’s PTC Windchill applications. Provide a high level of expertise, partner with business and engineering teams to analyze business requirements, propose technical solution designs, and drive efforts for implementation, enhancements, bug fixes, and other changes to the PLM platform in order to ensure that MicroVention’s strategic PLM system needs and requirements are met in a standardized, efficient, and effective manner, while meeting all necessary quality and regulatory compliance requirements. Job duties:
  • Responsible for the end-to-end technical solution architecture for MicroVention’s global implementation of Windchill PLM including CAD management, BOM management, document management, SAP Integrations with Windchill ESI, digital transformation initiatives including ThingWorx Navigate/user interface.
  • Take ownership of the enterprise PLM solution including all functional and technical aspects.
  • Conduct technical meetings and workshops to gather, define, and analyze business problems and core business requirements.
  • Review and analyze PLM architecture and identify/propose solutions that meet design requirements and business objectives.
  • Transform and map business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications documentation.
  • Work with business stakeholders and develop partnerships across internal departments as well as external consultants and support resources in delivering overall solutions.
  • Anticipate and mitigate issues and achieve required outcomes within required timeframes.
  • Develop training documentation content, perform adequate knowledge transfer, and deliver training to end-user groups.
  • Perform various project management tasks including reporting on project status to IT and business management and executives.
  • Provide guidance and support for software user acceptance testing and software validation efforts through the creation of test protocols, reports, and other documentation to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements.
  • Work within established change and release management procedures to ensure proposed changes to PLM platform are analyzed and evaluated for business impact, tested, promoted, and implemented.
  • Enforce and maintain application security in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Support and assist PLM IT Specialists with ongoing technical support tasks.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Salary Range:

$123,318 - $172,645 (Compensation could be higher based on education, experience and skill sets)

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Business, or Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    2. Proven background across all phases of PLM implementation, enhancements, and change/release management.
    3. A minimum of five (5) years of end-to-end experience working in a PTC Windchill environment in a Solution Architect role.
    4. General knowledge of ISO, FDA, and other auditable software and data management compliance requirements.
    Desired Qualifications
    1. Sound understanding of latest Windchill architecture, features, and application interface framework including CAD and BOM interfaces.
    2. Experience working with PTC Windchill Cloud environment.
    3. Understanding of PTC PLM product future roadmap.
    4. Understanding of PLM integrations to various enterprise business platforms such as MES, LMS, QMS, ERP (SAP S/4 HANA) content management platforms (SharePoint) using ESI integration, ERP connectors, TIBCO, LDAP (AD), SOA, Web Services, JMS, JPA, etc.
    5. Understanding of organizational goals, objectives, and business processes.
    6. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to find and propose creative solutions to technical challenges by utilizing available toolsets.
    7. Relevant medical device industry experience a plus.
    8. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
    9. Detail oriented and organized.
    10. Ability to manage projects from inception through completion with minimal supervision.
    11. A patient and professional demeanor, along with a desire to learn all aspects of the business.
